First and foremost, I want to be entertained. In the book world, my book boyfriends are the dangerous, scary types, the truly honorable men, and the guys who make me laugh out of that list, the last two make a guy very appealing to me in real life. Subjugating others 'for their own good' is only a justification for leaders who feel entitled to take what they can by force. And, as with all such movies, you must be able to look beyond the literal. Always is happening something in Watchmen, so while definitely this was a titanic Enterprise, offering insightful comments and information, it was curious to find some pages without something to say about them. Joe Pike, the avenging angel, is a tool used sparingly by Crais.
Most people I have talked to look at Veidt's mini-Armageddon to bring peace as inherently evil -- and the most monstrous act in a book of monstrous acts. There is no real hero, and none of the characters represents Moore's own opinions. Pike relies on Cole to provide key backup. The plot sprawls, it's convoluted, it spans generations and a large cast. As result of his troubled background, Rorschach has a very black and white perspective of the world that leaves no space for grey areas or compromise.
